Hailey had her MRI on Tuesday.  We were able to confirm today that there appears to have been a tiny bit of shrinkage since last MRI.  So since we started the Avastin/CPT-11 treatments, we have managed to get enough apparent overall shrinking to get us back to close to where we started when Hailey was first diagnosed with this tumor a few years ago, and to roughly the same size it was when we had to start back up on treatment again back in Feb of 2010.  All in all, this MRI was a good result.  Certainly better than the alternative.  We will continue on with the Avastin treatment and have another MRI in 3 months.

SUB 20 follow up:  I failed.  Time ended up being 22:00 flat. Disappointing, but I will try again next year and start training a month earlier next time!

Well it was another great year for the Team Hailey 5k.  The weather was terrible, but once again people came out in good numbers anyway with smiles on and continued to show that the Team Hailey supporters are some of the toughest around.

All the numbers and money are not in yet, but it appears the net amount raised for the PLGA Foundation will be somewhere in the 40 thousands.  We can't thank enough our generous sponsors, those who participated and volunteered, and of course Grandma Peg and the team of incredible people that make this such a great event.

We also had lots of new faces this year, which is hopefully something to keep building on and will help us continue to grow the total number of people who participate in years to come. And on a special note, it was so neat to see Hailey's nurses from Madison make the trip up for the run.  We can't say enough how much that meant to all of us.  And it was great for them to get to see Hailey in a different environment and get a better look at what she is really like outside of the hospital.

Results will be posted on the website in the coming days.  Hope to see you all again next year!!

April 5th is the deadline for registration for the Team Hailey 5k to guarantee a t-shirt and get the lower pricing.  Registrations will continue to be accepted online until approximately April 15th and in person up until the morning of the event, but we cannot guarantee a tshirt after April 5th and the price of the event goes up a bit.

We returned on Tuesday from our trip to MD Anderson.  We reinforced what we already knew about the Proton Pencil Beam Radiation therapy and got a chance to meet the doctors and see the place in person.  It was a worthwhile trip.  This treatment will continue to be one of the very few options available if/when we need to make another tough decision on changing treatments.  It comes with it's own list of risks and side effects, but so does everything else currently available.  The plan for now is to continue the Avastin/CPT-11 treatment and hope this brings more shrinkage with little side effects.  At some point we will stop that treatment, hope for some significant time before the tumor regrows, and then reassess our best options at that time hoping that newer and better drug options will emerge and prove themselves or take the leap and do the Proton Radiation.  Of course all of this could be sped up if for some reason the current treatment stops working or starts causing problems.  You just never know in this world...

On a side note, the girls did a great job on the trip and had a blast!  They were so fun and easy to travel with.  It was really special for us to watch them and take this trip with them, despite one part of it being for medical reasons.  They are growing up so fast and becoming such good young girls!
