Hi, I was reading your journal entries and it sounds like there are some excellent opportunities for 2nd opinions. To curb the cost, I'd like to start a small fund to help with gas, expenses, etc...anyone else interested in helping, please contact me at Clehrer@mortonpharmacy.com.Friday, January 8, 2010 - 8:29am
Brian and Shannon, I'm so sorry to hear about the update on Hailey. I was hoping for the best for you. This hits home as my oldest Grace also needed a shunt due to her enlarged ventricles and her spinal fluid was not able to be absorbed correctly. I do not know who your doctors are in Madison, but Dr. Iskandar is our neurosurgeon and performed the surgery on Grace at Madison. She had several surgeries during her first year and a half and he was absolutely wonderful to her and our family. Grace is doing great with her shunt ever since. I realize that Hailey has a lot more going on here than Grace did, but a shunt is definitely manageable. I hope this comforts you just a bit with respect at least to this new development. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Melanie Ebert

Hi Shannon, I'm sorry to hear the news. Let me know if there is anything I can do. We have some great doctors at Hopkins. I know we have a second opinion program here - I think it's $500 -$1000??? for them to look at her record. I can get you in touch with the right people if you decide to send to Hopkins. I wish Hailey and your famiily the best of luck, Wendy

Keep praying on this end for her. She is so dang cute and courageous. Rest assured you are great parents (which I know you already knew, but sometimes you can\'t hear it enough!) Hailey is here in this world for a reason and you are her family for a reason. God has plans whether we agree with him or not. Thanks for keeping us updated, as hard as I am sure it is to type it out. God bless you all!Appleton, WI

Dear Brian and Shannon, May the many thoughts and prayers that are with you tonight provide the strength and determination needed to help you cope with the news you received today and throughout your search for a cure for Hailey. With such love from so many, anything is possible! Love from the Beyer family, Chris, Vicki and CarissaThursday, January 7, 2010 - 10:07pm
Hi - I am so sorry to hear of yoru news today. Keep your chin up, hope up, keep fighting, and most important keep the faith. I read that you were going to get another opinion, which is a great idea. Don't hesitate at all to ask Benny who he might suggest, so that you get a 'good' 'solid' opinion. The circle of professionals who mangage pediatric brain tumors is relatively small, majority subscribe to national standards/protocols, some may be more experienced in this type of tumor. He will guide you. Please know I am a phone call away and would be happy to take your call for anything, anything at all. Thinking of you. Shona Lenss

Shannon, I am Candice Faust's friend. We met a few months ago when I quoted you for a project. I have been following Hailey's journal through your updates ever since. After reading your update, words can't describe the feelings. It is gut-wrenching to hear this news. As a fellow mother of a child with cancer, it tears at your heartstrings when bad news is received. Please know I think of your family often and pray for Hailey every day. God bless you all.
