Brian and Shannon,I'm not so sure how to even begin here. John Edwards diagnosed my daughter, Madeline, last August with leukemia (ALL). She was 21 months old when we found out. John gave us a call a few days ago, and briefly told us about you and about precious Hailey. My heart truly does break for you both. I know it is so early on to know what the days and weeks ahead will be like, but I do want to offer you our prayers and any kind of support that we have to give. I know for me, other cancer moms have become a lifeline. We are among a special group of people who are faced with the most difficult challenge of all, and that is watching our beautiful children endure the unthinkable. My stomach is in knots as I go back through and read each of your journal entries. My memories of our early days remain so fresh, even after almost one year. Life as we once knew it, no longer exits. I find myself rejoicing in the smallest of things...eyelashes that grow back, or going out for ice cream when Maddy's immune system is well enough. She has just learned to swallow pills, and I couldn't be more proud. I pray that you will find the strength to pull you through this. I see you have many people who are there to love and support you.
