Hi Family!!! The Benefit for Hailey's Holiday Hope is drawing near. I wanted to send a message out that we could still use some donations for the silents auction, gift certificates for the raffles, crafts for the craft fair, and baked goods for the bake sale. So, everyone, please help. The building holds 875 people, let's fill it! All My Love, Tina

Actually, not only was bathtime good on Thursday, but Saturday evening at Grandma Peg's house was just as enjoyable. I know, cause I pulled up my pants and got right in there with those 2 adorable children!!! It was such a delight to spend that special time with the girls, looking forward to more wonderful moments. Keep up your awesome work, Brian and Shannon. You're doing an absolutely fabulous job. Love you, Aunt Kris

A peaceful, enjoyable bath time is a big thing right now so just knock yourselves out celebrating! And those parenting books weren't written for situations like yours so you might as well throw that advice to the wind and just trust yourselves - because you are awesome parents whose wisdom comes from the deep and unconditional love you have for your little girls and your faith in God. You may not always get it perfect (who does?) but if you have to err, I say err on the side of keeping your sanity. The best parenting advice I ever got was to "save it for the big ones" when it comes to doing battle with your kids and I think that might just apply here as well. Your job as parents is so much more challenging right now than the parents of most two year olds and I pray that one day your greatest concerns truly will be whether you're letting Hailey get away with too much! For now, stay strong in the knowledge that you are, without a doubt, the best parents that Hailey and Faith could have - that's why He chose you. God bless, Cheryl and Rick

Hi Meltz family... I was reading your last entry thinking about all the times that our middle guy screamed ALL night long - night after night - ripped doorknobs off of doors...broke locks...all the while we were trying to be "firm" and "consistent"...which had always worked before...then he had ear tubes "installed" and his adenoids removed (on Halloween - which REALLY makes me think of it today) and I said to Dominic, "WE can't let him scream all night long as we quarrantine the rest of us in the bedroom" (with a loud fan running - even though we laid awake all night worrying...) He slept on the couch in our room that night...and every night after that we tucked him into bed and told him that he could come up to the couch if he needed to. In part, it was surrender...and it just "felt" better - to hell with the parenting books. We also justified it by telling ourselves that "he isn't going to be 14 and on our couch...so sometime between now and then..." At first he came up after a minute or two...then an hour or two...and after about 4 years he said to me, "Mom, who puts that blanket and pillow out for me every night?" (Can you believe how self-absorbed they are?? :) and then a couple of weeks ago, he didn't come up. Another night passed...It took 5 years...and once we did what "felt right" it didn't matter if it was going to be 5 years or 50 years. You two are obviously extraordinary parents with the grace and strength we could only hope to have. Just keep trusting yourselves...nobody could possibly do it better!!!!!! By the way, I just took Graceie in for her 9 year well-child check and she was reading her "milestones" checklist when she declared, "See, Mom! I am SUPPOSED to be self-absorbed - it says so right here on my checklist!!!!" With our love, thoughts, and prayers... Dom and Beth

It is so difficult to get a crying child dressed not to mention without tubes sticking out of her. I hope it's just a phase. I worry about her weight too. This is so hard.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Thank you for today's journal entry and reminding us all how difficult the little every day things can be. It really stops and makes us think. It reminds us not to get so pissy when things don't go our way. We are in constant awe of your strength and determination to fight this terrible tumor and make life for Hailey as normal as possible. Keep up the fight. You are our Heros!!! We love You, Hogan and Steve

Hi Meltz family from Florida! Can I have your autograph? Wow - great coverage in the Appleton paper. We have finally found a church home here in Tampa and have added Hailey (and your entire family) to the prayer list here. Our thoughts continue to be with you always. Hope all is well. Shannon - work is just not the same without you as my neighbor. Keep in touch!
